ASUS Routers, Ethernet Details & Network Switch Detection

macOS Requires macOS 14+

ASUS Router Support

  • Automatic detection — Network Weather now recognizes ASUS routers automatically and shows model info
  • Router health — When you add your login, see CPU usage, memory, internet connection status, connected devices, and security settings
  • End-of-life warnings — Alerts you when your ASUS router model is no longer receiving security updates, with recommended replacements

Smarter Ethernet Info

  • Adapter details — When connected via Ethernet, see your adapter's brand (e.g., Sabrent), chipset, and maximum speed
  • Speed in context — Shows both your current connection speed and your adapter's maximum, so you know if something is limiting performance

Network Switch Detection

  • Find your switches — On wired connections, automatically detects network switches between your computer and the router
  • Switch details — Shows the switch name, manufacturer, IP address, and hostname
  • Full wired path — See the complete path from your computer through every switch to the router (requires a UniFi controller)

Gateway & Display

  • Setup prompts — A helpful indicator guides you to configure router login for deeper monitoring
  • Vendor logos — ASUS, UniFi, Linksys, Netgear, and Orbi logos appear throughout the app
  • Better MAC addresses — Hardware addresses now show the manufacturer name and can be easily copied

Privacy

  • Crash reports no longer include your IP address
  • Location data removed from all logs sent to our servers (local display unaffected)

Bug Fixes

  • False alarms — Router and connection segments no longer show critical status when the router simply ignores ping requests
  • Ethernet reconnection — Network status now recovers properly after unplugging and replugging Ethernet
  • Speed display — Fixed incorrect Ethernet speed reporting (was showing 2.5 Gbps on 1 Gbps connections)
  • Copy crash — Fixed a crash when using "Copy as Text"
  • Startup flicker — Gateway status no longer briefly shows "Available" before settling on "Connected"
  • Window glitch — Extra windows no longer flash on screen during first launch
  • Location lookups — Fixed failures when looking up your public IP's location
