Info Popovers & Wi-Fi State Awareness

macOS Requires macOS 14+

Info Popovers

Tappable labels with info icons now reveal detailed explanations for technical metrics like Latency, Loss, Jitter, Signal, SNR, and more. Each popover includes a "Learn More" link to documentation, making Network Weather educational as well as diagnostic.

Highlights

  • Info Popovers: Tap any metric label with an info icon to see a plain-English explanation of what it means and why it matters, with links to learn more
  • Wi-Fi State Awareness: Link segment now distinguishes between Wi-Fi off, Wi-Fi on but not connected, and Wi-Fi connected with distinct icons and labels
  • Security Warnings: Link segment turns orange to warn about open networks, WEP encryption, weak signal, or poor SNR
  • Clickable Gateway IP: Gateway IP address is now a clickable link that opens your router's admin interface

New Features

  • Info popovers for 20+ metrics: Latency, Loss, Jitter, Signal, Noise, SNR, BSSID, MAC, MTU, Security, SSID, Thermal State, Power Mode, Memory, Disk, CPU, temperatures, Uptime, Channel, TX Rate, and Swap
  • Dynamic Memory/Disk info showing actual GB values (e.g., "8.2 GB used of 16 GB total")
  • Gateway IP opens router admin page when clicked
  • Centralized URL registry for automated link validation

Improvements

  • Segment detail headers show category names (Client, Link, Gateway, ISP, Services) instead of instance names
  • Show thermal state and power mode even when normal for reassurance
  • Monospace font for MAC addresses and BSSIDs
  • Larger detail row font for better readability
  • "Open Network Weather" moved to first position in menu bar dropdown
  • Client segment reordered for logical flow: Name, Model, Chip, Serial
  • Disk info uses consistent "% used" terminology

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed 100% packet loss display when network reconnects after going offline
  • Fixed memory pressure incorrectly showing "Warning" at low usage
  • Fixed system uptime showing wrong value (was time since wake, not boot)
